How the heck are ya? Thanks for checking out the site! Rob Calvert's the name, and I was born and raised in Cincinnati (November 24th for those wondering how long you have to shop). I went to Lakota High School where I was knee-deep in music (saxophone and bass guitar), and received my introduction to radio at WLHS-Lakota's radio program. In 1988, I was somehow accepted by the University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music Electronic Media program. I graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in December of 1992.
Jacor Broadcasting/Clear Channel finally offered to pay me for my services in December of 1991 at a start-up hard rock station called THE POWER PIG (WAQZ). I continued to work for the company for 14 years-also working for WKRC-AM with Jerry Thomas, Robin Wood, Craig Kopp and others, as well as doing what I now refer to as the world's worst radio talk show-THE 550 BAR AND GRILL-for a year and a half, and then finally at the legendary WEBN as a member of THE DAWN PATROL with Eddie Fingers and Bob the Producer.
I left Cincinnati in November, 2005 for a gig in Orlando, Florida at WOCL (O-Rock 105.9) where I worked with THE MORNING AFTER SHOW with Drew Garabo and The Sexy Savannah. After a productive year-and-a-half there, I decided to move a different direction, and in October, 2007 took a position with WMGK in Philadelphia, PA with the John DeBella morning show.
In addition to radio, I have kept myself busy with various acting projects (most recently ZOMBIES! ZOMBIES! ZOMBIES!-see my film page on this website). I enjoy writing and performing music, have a couple of scripts in the works, am a certified tax-preparer, fire-eater, and world-class thumb wrestler. I am a die-hard Alice Cooper and Frank Zappa fan, and have an intense interest in doing anything that I haven't done before.
